What's Yours to Carry
This week, I carried a conversation with me long after it ended. Replaying it, trying to make sense. Eventually I asked myself: is this mine to carry? The answer was no.
Oftentimes, we carry invisible weight: unspoken expectations, emotional residue, other people’s urgency. The pause helps us sort what’s ours from what we’ve just picked up. Always know, you can set some of it down.
At the end of each day, write down three things you’re holding onto. Circle only the ones that are truly yours. Let the rest be ‘returned to sender.’
It is not meant for you to carry everything. You can’t carry everything. Even lakes return what they cannot hold.
